FRA Administrator Declares Emergency Event: Tropical Storm Gordon
In making this determination, the Administrator notes that the National Weather Service has forecasted that Tropical Storm Gordon is expected to increase to a Category 1 hurricane by landfall late Tuesday, September 4, 2018. A hurricane warning was put into effect for the area stretching from the mouth of the Pearl River in Mississippi to the Alabama-Florida border. As much as 8 inches of rain could fall in some parts of the Gulf states through late Thursday, September 6, 2018. The State of Louisiana preemptively declared a state of emergency in anticipation of the storm’s landfall.
Therefore, the Administrator has activated the Emergency Relief Docket (FRA-2018-0013) for Tropical Storm Gordon as of September 4, 2018, and the emergency relief provisions of 49 CFR § 211.45 are in effect.
