FRA maintains oversight of railroad bridge and structure safety.  Bridge and structure staff participate in bridge accident investigations; perform bridge assessments and bridge management program reviews; and provide direction and technical advice regarding bridge inspections, maintenance, and management, as well as railroad bridge worker safety.

FRA has developed a railroad bridge database from existing GIS data to assist the public in identifying railroad bridges at public crossings. You can access the database at Railroad Bridges | Geospatial at the Bureau of Transportation Statistics
