Cab Technology Integration Laboratory (CTIL) Overview
The Cab Technology Integration Laboratory (CTIL) is a high-fidelity, full-sized locomotive simulator configured with tools for studying the boundaries of operator capability and performance, as well as the impact new technologies may have on them.
Located at the Volpe National Transportation Systems Center (the Volpe Center), the CTIL is owned by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and operated by Volpe's staff. It is a national resource facilitating broad-based collaboration among railroad, industry, academic, and government researchers.
